Head Chef and Owner Angela Dwyer’s culinary journey began in a busy family kitchen, cooking for eight and developing a lifelong passion for food.

After three years of Classical French training at Westminster College, Angela began a high-profile career in London’s dining scene, refining her skills at legendary establishments including Joe Allen and the iconic Maxim’s de Paris.

Her rapid ascent continued at Soho Brasserie and the renowned 192 Notting Hill, where she became Head Chef at just 24 years old. In 1989, Angela expanded her horizons at the world-famous Chez Panisse in California, bringing influential farm-to-table techniques back to London to lead a brigade of 20 at the exclusive Groucho Club, cooking for figures such as Madonna and Nigella Lawson.

In 2003, Angela brought this wealth of experience to Llanberis, partnering with Julia Roberts to open The Peak Restaurant at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Eryri National Park. Together, they created a chef-led restaurant rooted in quality, warmth, and consistency.

While Angela focuses on crafting vibrant, seasonal dishes using premium Welsh ingredients, Julia ensures the front-of-house delivers seamless, welcoming hospitality.

Since opening, the restaurant’s reputation has grown steadily. Angela and Julia reached the semi-finals of Channel 5’s Kitchen Wars, where their signature smoked haddock and saffron chowder impressed Marco Pierre White, who described the dish as “delicious, delicious, delicious.”

The restaurant has also been featured in respected publications including the Good Food Guide, and continues to receive strong praise from guests visiting Snowdonia and North Wales.

Today, The Peak remains an unpretentious yet refined dining space in the heart of Llanberis, offering modern Welsh evening dining in a relaxed setting. With its open kitchen and focus on locally sourced produce, it provides a welcoming atmosphere for both locals and visitors exploring Snowdonia.
